We’re hiring on behalf of a fast-growing international fintech company transforming global business banking and cross-border payments.
This is a cross-group data function — you’ll work across the entire organisation, not just one department. The team is small and tight-knit, which means high ownership from day one and real visibility into how the business runs.
We’re looking for someone who can hold both ends: a solid data engineering foundation (you understand ETL, you’re not afraid of pipelines that were built organically and need some love) and the analytical mindset to answer real business questions. You won’t just be a pipeline person — you’ll be plugged into what the data actually means.
Location: Riga, Latvia (hybrid — 3 days in office)
Employment: Full-time
Seniority: Mid to early Senior
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of the existing ETL pipeline — understand how it’s built, stabilise it where needed, and gradually improve the architecture with a clear head and good judgment
- Work across key data sources: the core application, onboarding pipeline, client ledger (all transaction data), and third-party integrations including automated regulatory reporting
- Support and improve the data flow into the company’s Data Warehouse (PostgreSQL), with dbt transformations and Power BI reporting on top
- Maintain and monitor Airflow-based pipelines; troubleshoot issues when they arise — including occasional ad hoc incidents tied to international operations (HK, France)
- Fetch and process data from external APIs; work with internal tools including Power Apps where relevant
- Implement and improve automated validation, reconciliation, and alerting processes to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and timely issue detection
- Work closely with Finance, Settlements, Operations, Product, and IT — including regular weekly syncs — to understand what the data needs to do and why
- Investigate discrepancies, find root causes, and drive issues through to resolution independently
- Answer analytical questions, not just engineering ones — connect the dots between data and business decisions
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and propose improvements; don’t wait to be asked
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years in data analysis, data engineering, or a hybrid role
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, and Excel
- Solid understanding of ETL processes and the ability to work with existing pipelines that weren’t built from scratch under ideal conditions
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines with Airflow and dbt (or very similar stack), and experience working with data warehouse (PostgreSQL or similar relational databases)
- Strong analytical thinking — comfortable turning ambiguous business questions into structured data work
- Ownership mindset: you self-manage, you communicate proactively, you don’t wait for someone to chase you
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders — and communicate clearly to both
- Fluent English (written and spoken); French & Russian is a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services
- Exposure to Power Apps or similar internal workflow/notification tools
- Familiarity with automation of operational processes or reporting workflows
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting logic
- Familiarity with report automation (e.g. Power Automate)
Why Join
- Competitive compensation depending on experience
- Hybrid setup: modern city-centre office in Riga, 3 days in / 2 from home
- Work in a profitable, rapidly scaling international fintech — with active expansion into new markets (France, Hong Kong) meaning the data function is genuinely business-critical
- High ownership and visibility — you’ll see the impact of your work directly
- Small, collaborative team with low hierarchy and no micromanagement
- This is a good moment to come in: the foundation exists, and there’s real opportunity to bring structure and do things properly — not just maintain what’s there
- Strong growth opportunities as the business and data function scale together
