We’re supporting a newly established fintech company in Latvia in hiring a Financial Controller to strengthen its finance function during an important growth and infrastructure-building stage.
The company is building an acquiring-focused payments platform combining EMI capabilities, card acquiring, payment processing, and merchant payment gateway infrastructure. As the business develops, the finance function will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective controls, safeguarding oversight, and reliable financial data across the organisation.
This is a hands-on role combining financial controlling, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, accounting oversight, and financial analysis. You’ll work closely with management, accounting, and other business functions to provide visibility into financial performance and ensure the integrity of financial and operational data.
The role also offers the opportunity to help develop reporting processes, strengthen internal controls, introduce automation, and shape the company’s financial infrastructure as it grows.

What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting & Control
- Prepare regular weekly and monthly financial and management reports, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and relevance of reported data
- Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and key financial data across different systems and data sources
- Monitor and reconcile client balances and support safeguarding controls
- Review financial results and investigate discrepancies, unusual movements, and data inconsistencies
- Ensure financial information is complete, reliable, and available to management when required
- Develop and maintain effective internal financial controls to minimise errors and strengthen financial oversight
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support and maintain the company’s budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analyse variances between budgeted, forecasted, and actual financial results
- Track key financial and operational metrics, identify trends, and highlight areas requiring management attention
- Perform financial analysis to support business decisions, special projects, and business cases
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and insights to management and other teams
- Translate financial data into clear conclusions and practical recommendations
Management Reporting & BI
- Support the development and continuous improvement of management reporting
- Define requirements for Power BI dashboards and reports in collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams
- Help establish relevant financial and operational KPIs and ensure consistent reporting
- Improve the accessibility and quality of financial information used for decision-making
- Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives within financial reporting
Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Support compliance with Latvian financial, accounting, tax, and statutory reporting requirements
- Monitor financial processes to ensure they are aligned with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements
- Work closely with the accounting function on statutory reporting and tax-related matters
- Support the development and maintenance of appropriate financial policies and procedures
Audit Support
- Work closely with internal and external auditors
- Prepare financial information, reconciliations, and supporting documentation required during audits
- Support the implementation of audit recommendations and improvements to financial controls and processes
What You’ll Bring
- Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Proven experience in financial controlling, financial analysis, management reporting, accounting, or a similar finance role
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial controls
- Good knowledge of Latvian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelling
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and working with complex financial data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage several priorities simultaneously
- Excellent Latvian language skills, both spoken and written
- Good English communication skills for working with international partners and auditors
Nice to have:
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial services, or another regulated environment
- Understanding of client funds, safeguarding, or payment-related financial operations
- Experience defining requirements for Power BI dashboards and management reports
- Hands-on Power BI development experience
- Experience with finance process automation or system implementation
