Senior Accountant

We’re supporting a newly established fintech company in Latvia in hiring a Senior Accountant to take ownership of the company’s accounting operations during an important growth and infrastructure-building stage.

The company is building an acquiring-focused payments platform combining EMI capabilities, card acquiring, payment processing, and merchant payment gateway infrastructure. As the business scales, the finance function will play a critical role in ensuring strong regulatory reporting, financial control, and operational accuracy from day one.

This role also offers the opportunity to build accounting processes from scratch, participate in the implementation of accounting software, and help shape the financial infrastructure of the company as it grows.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working in fast-moving fintech environments, understands regulated financial operations, and wants to be part of building processes and structure within a growing international company.

What You’ll Do

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Manage full-cycle accounting in accordance with Latvian legislation and internal company policies
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Prepare annual financial statements and coordinate the submission process
• Ensure accurate accounting records and compliance with regulatory requirements

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare and submit required reports to the State Revenue Service (VID), Bank of Latvia, Central Statistical Bureau (CSP), and other authorities
• Maintain tax accounting and ensure timely calculation and payment of taxes
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance

Payroll & Payments

• Calculate and process payroll, including taxes and related deductions
• Process incoming invoices and prepare supplier payments
• Ensure accurate accounting of payroll-related expenses and liabilities

Audit & Internal Support

• Lead annual audit preparation and act as the main point of contact for auditors
• Provide accounting guidance and support to management and employees
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and financial information upon request

What You’ll Bring

• Higher education in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in a senior accounting or chief accountant role
• Strong experience preparing annual financial statements and supporting external audits
• Hands-on experience with Horizon accounting software
• Good understanding of Latvian accounting standards and tax regulations
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with MS Office tools
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and take ownership of responsibilities
• Professional proficiency in Latvian and English
